  • Welcome to this user guide on how to activate your VPN account using 2-factor authentication (2FA). In today’s world, online security has become more crucial than ever, and VPNs have become an essential tool for protecting our online privacy and security. However, even with a strong password, your VPN account can still be vulnerable to hacking attempts or unauthorized access. That’s where 2-factor authentication comes in. By requiring a second form of authentication in addition to your password, 2FA adds an extra layer of security to your VPN account, making it more challenging for anyone to gain access to your account without your authorization. In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to activate 2FA on your VPN account, so you can rest assured that your online activities are protected. Let’s get started!

Solution

  • You will receive two emails from our Watchguard Cloud solution, AuthPoint:
  • Set Password email – asking you to create a password for your accounts
  • Activation email – asking you to activate AuthPoint on your mobile device

Set Password

  • To Set a Password, open the email and then click on the CREATE PASWORD button
  • The system will then open a new page asking you to type your new password. When done, click SAVE

ACTIVATION

  • To Activate your account, open the email and then click on the START ACTIVATION button
  • The system will then open a new page asking you to activate your account.
  • To accomplish this, you will need to download the AuthPoint App on your mobile device. Use the App Store or Google Play to download the application. 

APPLE ANDROID

  • When downloaded, open the application and click on the ACTIVATE button. 
  • The application will then open the camera asking you to scan the QR Code. Once scanned, click on the SAVE button to add it your device

  • You will receive a new email confirming your token activation.

CONNECTING TO VPN

  • Open the Mobile VPN with SSL client application already installed on your PC to connect to HMI’s network
  • Please use the following information to login:
  • Server: 50.224.28.94
  • User name: AuthPoint\test.user (replace test.user with your username)
  • Password: the password you created previously at the beginning of this guide
  • Once the username and password are checked and authorized, you will get a notification on your mobile device to APPROVE (or deny) the sign in.
  • This way, 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) is enforced to enhance security and make it challenging to anyone trying to gain access without your authorization
